Anhelo

Longing is inspired by the late 1960s in Mexico, when the local arts scene found inspiration in North American and European op art in its search for a unique graphic language that would both secure Mexico’s place in the world of global aesthetics as well as renovate the most traditional forms of Mexican art, with references to vernacular art and indigenous art.

Art as an agent of change led to an alliance between architects, designers and artists who were responsible for a series of ambitious programs and projects from different stylistic and ideological art currents: there were those that sought to construct an image of the country for the rest of the world and those who were concerned with showing the reality that lay beneath this international image.

Longing finds inspiration in the desires and hopes of this epoch as part of our own neverending search for a unique language for our trade, textile design, one rooted in the history of our country of origin and the connections and inspirations we can find when far from her.
